ASA 101

Sailing in Hawaii is the perfect place to take the ASA 101 Keelboat Sailing 1 course. This class is a full day beginning level sailing course resulting in the certification from the American Sailing Association. Perform the duties of a skipper and crew of a sloop-rigged keelboat sailing in light to moderate wind and sea conditions. Using the text and hands on experience students will learn boating safety, sailing terminology, the points of sail, how to trim sail, basic seamanship, and collision avoidance navigation rules.

The textbook, Sailing Made Easy, is the official textbook for the ASA Basic Keelboat Standard (ASA 101). The textbook is comprised of many useful illustrations and photographs of complex sailing concepts. The quizzes at the end of the chapters along with the glossary help new to sailors acquire extensive nautical terminology which is covered in the written exam.

Successful completion of this course will result in the ASA Basic Keelboat 101 certificate.
